Papier Mache

Hey,
So we are still working on our papier mache sculptures, and I have papier mached it all with newspaper, then 1 layer with paper towels and finally a layer of gesso (white paint glue stuff).

The next step is drawing (in our visual art diaries) what we want it to wear, because we will be making them and putting it on our dolls ( can't wait !). I am planning on mine wearing a layered dress, and each layer might have a different pattern on it.

Oh yeh, our statue and what it is wearing has to represent 'My Story', so basically what my parents did or grandparents did when they were young or where they lived and so on. For example, my mother owned a pet deer when she was a child, so I am going to put the picture of the deer on my dress.

I want it to look sort of vintage, but still pretty and fashionable sort of thing.

Here are some dresses that I want to mix together, you could say, to make it...

Wire thingo

Hey, hey, hey hows my best girl fwendz!

So, for art, we have been making these awesome wire things, people statues. Its is so fun cause we get to pose them however we want.
So, first we had like a piece of wire and we had to bend it in the shape of a person, which lMrs Vincent taught us how to do properly. Then we chosewhich pose we want, then we had to take a photo of ourselves doing that so you can know what to do with which limbs or it could not like turn out right, u know...

Contour Drawing

We practiced contour drawing this week in art.
Contour drawing is where you draw a picture without lifting the pencil and not looking at what we are drawing, so its just one continuous line.
We had to practice contour drawing our hand and my drawing looked really funny.

My painting

FOr art we are painting a portrait of ourselves, and i have almost finished painting the details of for my body and will be starting Meg's details soon soon.

WE have learnt in art about tone, and it was very difficult painting on the shadows because it was hard to get the right colour of the shadows.

I also found it very difficult finding the right skin tone for Meg's skin, i spent most of the lesson trying to perfect it.

I am very pleased with my work so far but i don't think i will get to finish it because we have very little time left.

Reflections Past 3 weeks

3 weeks ago Aunty Sally came and visited our school and showed us how draw portraits upside down using negative shapes.

We took a picture of us posing or doing something. We painted a piece of cardboard. We then got the picture of us posing and drew and outline making sure 3 parts of our body are touching it. Then, in chalk, we drew in the negative shapes on the cardboard using the picture as a guideline.

We turned the picture and cardboard upside down, this turns off our left side brain so we are only using our right side brain, which is the creative side.

I have finished drawing my outline and im up to drawing the details.
